Chai

Chai is the Hebrew word for "life," spelled with the letters chet and yud, which together also carry the numerical value 18. It is why gifts and donations in Jewish tradition are often given in multiples of 18, and why "l'chaim" — to life — is the toast you will hear at almost every Jewish celebration. Wearing chai is a small, everyday way of saying yes to life.
